diy hanging laundry bag

One of my biggest frustrations with my bedroom is not having enough space. I am constantly trying to find a way to create space and I always come back to using the walls. Jim put up this beautiful bookshelf months ago and it has been an amazing addition and storage spot. Then we swapped out our large dresser for this slim modern one and once again our room got bigger.

So I have been working so hard to create more space in our room but no matter what I do I still have a big old laundry basket to stick somewhere. I've tried sticking it in the corner, the closet and simply setting it at the end of the bed. No matter what it still takes up space and is and eye sore to me. You can only imagine how excited I was to come across this amazing solution from Making Nice in the Midwest

DIY Ombre Hanging Laundry Bag
Adapted from Making Nice in the Midwest

Supplies
Laundry Bag (I was lazy and used the one from my old basket but you could also use a pillow case)
Embroidery Hoop
Fabric Dye (optional, for ombre effect)
Yarn, Twine or Ribbon
Hook and Screws

1. Make dye solution and grab your bag or pillowcase. Start by soaking the bottom portion of the bag for 10 minutes. Then add more of the bag to the solution and let it sit 5 additional minutes. Dip the last portion of the bag for just a minute and you're ready! Rinse out the bag and wash it.

2. Now that your bag is dyed and clean you can get ready to hang it. Sandwich the ends of the bag in the embroidery hoop and tighten. Loop yarn around the embroidery hoop screw for hanging.

3. Screw your hook into the door and hang!

  1. Great idea! I was thinking about a solution the other day and I figured hanging something on the wall would be a good idea. It's like you read my mind.

    1. I am glad to hear I'm not the only one out there that wants the laundry basket out of the way! This is one of my favorite diy solutions I've done. Silly how exciting a laundry hamper can be...
