a mirror-free week

I was reading over at Clementine Daily yesterday and came across a very interesting challenge. They are asking their readers to take part in their Clementine Challenge for a mirror free week (or even a day). A national study states that women look in the mirror 8 times a day, which doesn't seem too much to me, but what if you didn't look at all?

I have more and more come across inspiring women who are choosing to go with no make up and now this challenge has me thinking again. How often do I leave the house without make up? Am I afraid to show the real me, blemishes and all? I have been taking the last year learning to be more open with my feelings, fears and imperfections but what about showing the imperfections on my face and body? I am no doubt guilty of wanting to look like I have everything together but maybe a challenge like this is just what I need to take my soul work and apply it to my physical self.

How about you? Could you go a week with no mirror?

  1. Ooof! That's a good question. I really don't know how I would do, but I'd be up for the challenge.

  2. It certainly is an interesting (and challenging) challenge! Then again, I once lived without a full-length mirror in my flat and must say that the wardrobe choices I was making weren't ideal. I'd catch a glimpse of myself in a shop window and jump back in shock! Also, I think I'd miss seeing my beautiful smiling face in the mornings. (Er, not kidding. :o)

  3. I love this idea! Last year me and a few other girls went around and covered up all of the mirrors on campus for mirrorless monday. It was really interesting to think about!

  4. That is a most interesting challenge! I never asked myself that question. It wouldn't be easy, but I'm sure the experience must be enlightening. :)
