creating space

If you have been here for a while you know that I am always looking for a way to add space to our home. I love living in a tiny home and I love even more finding new space in a tiny home. One of the biggest things that has helped us adapt to a smaller space is smaller furniture. I quickly realized that oversized furniture and I just don't get along. After our first home we got rid of every large piece we could and started buying smaller, more modern pieces. That has made a HUGE difference.

We are now trying even harder to add space to our living room. One thing I do not like about our house is there is no space to drop our bags etc when we walk in the door. This means bags, shoes and everything else end up scattered around the living room. One day I was analyzing our long skinny den and had an epiphany! If I got rid of the chair in the corner and bought a small one that would fit catty corner to the couch I would have a whole new corner!! That may not seem like much to you but with the addition of shelves I now have created a drop space! I quickly scoured the internet for this Eames Rocker but since it was out of my price range I settled for this knock off in white which ended up being lovely. I will hopefully upload photos of a beautifully updated living room soon but in the meantime here are some spaces that are inspiring our new found corner.
